Transferring to Marymount High School

Thinking about transferring to Marymount, but not sure where to start? Here’s the information you need.

Why transfer to Marymount?

Finding the right educational experience isn’t easy — it’s a balance between academics, co-curricular opportunities, and cultural fit. At Marymount High School, we strive to create an environment where students feel welcome as they develop the essential skills and competencies that will lead them to future success.

Each fall, we welcome a group of transfer students into our community. We meet with them the summer prior to enrollment to discuss their academic schedule and make sure they feel welcomed before school starts. These transfer students immediately immerse themselves in our community in meaningful ways and easily find their place here.

Learning at Marymount

Marymount has a plethora of extracurricular activities that allow me to explore various fields of interest, such as performance art through their supportive CAP program, unique sports like rowing, and the SAILL internship program. These experiences have allowed me to meet and bond with classmates who share similar interests, as well as take advantage of the numerous opportunities that Marymount provides!

The variety of courses I'm taking challenge me academically, and inspire me to explore more. I'm also extremely thankful for the amazing teachers who are constantly supporting me both in and out of the classroom. Meeting with my teachers to discuss projects, essays, tests, and more has truly helped me grow as a student.

The Conservatory Arts Program has been one of the best experiences of my life, and I love the supportive and welcoming environment that encourages creativity and risk!

Having the opportunity to be a part of the Marymount community has truly been a gift for me, because I got to meet such strong, kind, determined, and stellar young women — I'm always inspired by my fellow classmates.

Frequently asked questions

Do my credits transfer to Marymount?

We will review each incoming student’s transcript prior to enrollment so that we can discuss the courses for which you will receive credit. We will then discuss what requirements you still need to complete, and by when you should complete it. We will help to create an academic map so that you have a road to success and graduation!

Can I transfer after the deadline?

If you are interested in applying after the deadline, contact the Office of Admission to see if we have space. We know that there are many reasons why transfer students may be on a different timeline, so contact us so that we can discuss the potential for you to apply!

Can I transfer mid-year?

Most transfer students begin in the fall, however, we are open on a case-by-case basis to students who wish to transfer in the middle of the academic year. Please reach out to the Office of Admission so that we can learn more about you and your situation.

Can I play a sport if I transfer?

Yes! Every year we welcome transfer students who add to every area of our community, including athletics. Students who are participating on a varsity team may be required to complete a brief sit-out period and will need to submit paperwork to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). Talk with the Office of Admission and our Athletic Department to  learn more.
